The Blue Ridge Parkway, so named because of the Blue Ridge Mountains that it passes through, is one of the longest routes in the US. It passes through West Virginia and North Carolina and is a perfect way to see nature. A significant part of the parkway passes through the Blue Ridge Mountains and has some breathtaking vistas to experience.
The parkway has a milepost system which increases as you go from north to south which is used to navigate. A GPS is useless here because of the poor coverage in the mountainous areas, so you need to keep an eye on the mileposts if you don’t want to get lost. The best time to enjoy a drive on this parkway is during spring when the ice has melted, and all the routes are operational.
